PING has named its Clubfitters of the Year, with Jason Wyatt of the Sunningdale Golf and Country Club in London, Ont., taking the national award.

“Jason Wyatt and his staff of expert fitters continually demonstrate the performance and enjoyment benefits of custom fitting,” said PING chairman and CEO John A. Solheim.

“They’ve used their fitting expertise to grow their business in challenging times. They have used custom fitting to elevate the service they provide to their members. Our longtime association with Sunningdale makes us proud to honour them as PING’s National Fitter of the Year.”

Wyatt says he’s been involved with PING fitting for 11 years and has built a solid relationship.

“It’s an award that shows how we’ve created a really good relationship with each other, how PING has bought into our golf club and how our golf club works and how we’ve bought into their system and how much we believe in their fitting technology,” said Wyatt.

“It also involves their golf equipment and how much we believe in their golf equipment technology,” added Wyatt, who says that relationship has evolved over the years.

“It’s developed tremendously over those 11 years from just static fitting and fitting a person off a lie board to now involving computer technology, removable heads and shafts where you can connect everything a light speed, so the member can try the product,” he said.

“It gives the member the opportunity to see that golf club perform right there and helps them in the buying decision,” said Wyatt.

Going forward, Wyatt expects to see the relationship between Sunningdale and PING to evolve even more as new fitting techniques come in, but he stressed it won’t be rushed.

“They continue to evolve the correct way by making sure that their product in the way of fitting works best before they move it into the marketplace,” he said.

“There’s no trial and error with PING,” he said. “If it comes out to us as fitters, it’s 100 per cent tested, tried and really good. That’s what they enjoy from PING is their commitment to that fitting technology and they make sure we have the best available tools to fit our members.”

Wyatt adds that his club as an added bonus with the presence of fitting technician George Neil, who once worked with PING, knows the fitting systems and has an honest, open relationship with members and clients who come in from the outside to get fitted at Sunningdale.
