Brozer Goes Dutch With A Helpful Site
April 28, 2010 by Ian Hutchinson
As I mentioned in yesterday’s blog, Kim Brozer of Red Deer, Alta., has a passion for many of the points brought up in the Canadian Tour’s recent white paper, entitled Bridging the Gap, which studies the financial struggles faced by players in the early days of their pro careers.
Kim and I chatted via e-mail on Wednesday and she sent me a link to an interesting website for aspiring Dutch pros. Although the site isn’t in English or French, you get a pretty good idea about the corporate support behind this program.
According to Brozer, the purpose is to support these young pros, who initially sign a three-year contract, which is evaluated every year after that. Sound familiar to what we’re trying to accomplish in Canada?
It’s easy to understand why she is so passionate about this subject. She spent years playing Canadian women’s events, on the Futures Tour and the LPGA Tour and knows too well the challenges faced by developing professionals.
I know she’ll be in Southern Ontario soon, which would make her available for a chat with representatives of Golf Canada, the Canadian PGA and Canadian Tour as they begin forming their task force on this subject.
In the meantime, take a look at this website. You’ll get the picture by clicking here. Give Google Translator a try if you’d like to read it.
