Hearn, Mills Look Good For PGA Tour Cards

He obviously would have preferred his second Nationwide Tour win yesterday at the South Georgia Classic, but solid play by David Hearn of Brantford, Ont., the past two weeks has put him in good shape to regain his PGA Tour card.
Hearn, who last won on the Nationwide Tour at the 2004 Alberta Classic, went into the final round yesterday in Valdosta, Ga., gunning for a wire-to-wire victory.
However, he bogeyed the first hole, allowing Austalian Ewan Porter to pull into a tie with Hearn atop the leaderboard. Porter birdied the second hole to take a lead he would never relinquish. Meanwhile, Hearn had a couple of birdies negated by a double bogey on six before the turn.
Hearn, who played on the PGA Tour in 2005, rebounded from a bogey on 12 with a birdie on 13, but carded a bogey on 17 to finish fourth at Valdosta.
His performance in Valdosta comes a week after finishing second at the Fresh Express Classic in Hayward, Calif., and puts him in seventh on the money list, a jump of three spots over last week.
Jon Mills, who tied for 61st at Valdosta and finished third in California the week before, is 15th on the money list.
