Ontario PGA Names Its President

Dustin Kerr-Taylor, head professional at The Mandarin Golf and Country Club in Markham, has been named president of the Ontario PGA, replacing outgoing president Chris Miranda, who has held the post for the last two years.

“First and foremost I would like to thank my predecessor Chris Miranda for his tireless dedication to the Ontario PGA and the Ontario Board,” said Kerr-Taylor. “I am extremely humbled to be in this position and I am very much looking forward to affecting some positive change for the Ontario PGA and its 1300 members”.

Kerr-Taylor has served on the Ontario PGA Board since 2005. He has held a number of committee positions including membership chairman and most recently education chairman.

Born in Thunder Bay and raised in Dryden, Kerr-Taylor grew up in a family of golfers and spent his summers playing every day at the Dryden Golf and Curling Club under the tutelage of his dad and brother.

Kerr-Taylor left Dryden in 1993 to pursue a career in the golf industry, enrolling in the Golf Academy of America in Orlando, Fla.

Upon completion of his Associate Degree, Kerr-Taylor moved back to Ontario to begin his Canadian PGA apprenticeship under Brad Johnston of The Briars in Jackson Point, and John Porter at Rosedale in Toronto.

He also spent four years as an associate professional under Warren Crosbie at Bayview Golf and Country Club in Toronto. Kerr-Taylor is entering his seventh season as the head professional at The Mandarin

“The Ontario PGA means a great deal to me and I really like the direction we are going in,” said Kerr-Taylor. “We have a very strong and diverse board and everyone around the table is excited about where we are headed both provincially and nationally.”
