Srixon Going Mellow Yellow

Srixon sought to incorporate visual perception with the psychology of colour effect on the human brain with the introduction of its Z-Star and Z-Star X Tour Yellow golf balls.
In launching the new products, Srixon said science has proven that yellow is the most visible colour in the visual spectrum, while psychology has correlated green with calming and stress relief, which is why it combined the two colours.
The Z-Star and Z-Star X Tour Yellow golf balls also use ultra-thin, urethane cover technology, a larger core and cover to improve distance, spin and feel.
“The new Z-Star and Z-Star X Tour Yellow golf balls are currently being tested by numerous PGA and Nationwide Tour players, who are oresently playing the Srixon Z-Star series of balls,” said Chris Beck, brand manager for Srixon®.
“The response from our tour staffers has been overwhelmingly positive,” he added. “We understand that players at all levels of the game want to lower their scores and the Tour Yellow balls have definitely peaked the interest of our tour players, as well as consumers.”
The Z-Star Tour Yellow ball lines both feature Energetic Gradient Growth core technology to promote increased ball speed, as well as high launch and low spin.
The newly-developed 324 large seamless dimples are in place to reduce wind resistance for increased distance, while the new coating on their soft urethane cover is designed to improve spin performance from the rough.

History continues to repeat itself and people continue to have short memories. Remember the yellow (with a greenish tinge) and orange balls of the late 1970s and early 80s? Wayne Levin won the 1982 Hawaiian Open with an orange ball to become the first PGA Tour player to win with a colored ball. Jerry Pate followed soon after with his win at the 1982 TPC. Even Nicklaus experimented briefly with a colored ball. The new colors were supposed to be calming. What’s old is new again.
