My Winter Getaway: Ben Boudreau

January 18, 2010 by

Ben Boudreau, the head professional at Le Parcours du Cerf in Longueuil, Que., and winner of the 2009 Titleist and FootJoy Canadian PGA Club Professionals Championship, enjoys an affordable golf break at one high-profile public course in Orlando.

At Orange County National in Orlando, I like the design of the two magnificent golf courses and a 360-degree driving range, plenty of putting greens and a short game area to get you ready for the challenge ahead.

If you just want to practice, they have a deal to hit balls all day for $39 and that includes a few bottles of water.

The two golf courses are different. The Panther Lake golf course has a lot of water and the Crooked Cat is well-designed with more of a links feel. They’ve had the PGA Tour Q-School there a few times, so it’s good that people can play a challenging public golf course that the pros play.

They also have a nine-hole executive course.

Orlando has plenty of public golf courses. If you drive an hour in either direction, you can easily find public golf on the way to Tampa or Jacksonville.

It’s also very easy to find a nice house to stay in while you’re there. If you have four people, it’s so easy to find a house and their prices are pretty nice also.

There’s plenty to do after golf with a bunch of good restaurants and Disney World and Orlando airport is very convenient, making it easy to get in and get out. For four people, it’s one of the best places to go.
