FT-iZ Uses Polar Weighting
January 14, 2010 by GNN
Straight Distance is the objective of the new FT-iZ and FT-iZ Tour drivers from Callaway.
The FT-iZ drivers use Polar Weighting, which localizes the clubhead’s weight in the face and back power source to produce higher levels of ball speed consistency, clubhead stability and feel.
The chemically milled Hyperbolic Face is in place to offer consistently high ball speeds, while the Aerodynamic Body Design is a feature to decrease drag, leading to higher ball speeds.
The Fusion technology in the FT-iZs uses multiple materials that allow for extreme weight placement for a combination of performance and feel with the Aldila VooDoo shaft a feature to complement these drivers’ characteristics.
Polar Weighting and the Aerodynamic Body Design are also features of the FT-iZ fairways woods, which also offer Ultra-Thin VFT Technology with a new, aggressive face design to create higher ball speeds across the entire face.
Meanwhile, the Fusion Technology combines a carbon composite crown with a stainless steel face and body to maximize the perimeter weighting for increased stability leading to longer, straighter shots.
Fusion Technology is also a feature of the FT-iZ hybrids with larger, high moment of inertia clubheads that combine a stainless steel body and sole with injection-molded, high density weights.
VFT Technology in the FT-iZ hybrids is designed to general high ball speeds across the face for longer distance and greater consistency, while the offset hosel helps square the clubface at impact.
