DeLaet Catches Fire At Soggy Q
December 4, 2009 by Ian Hutchinson
The rain that suspended play in the third round of PGA Tour qualifying school couldn’t dampen a hot Graham DeLaet of Weyburn, Sask., on Friday at Bear Lakes Country Club in West Palm Beach, Fla.
DeLaet did manage to finish in fine style with an eight-under 64, which left him one shot off the lead held by J.P. Hayes and Troy Merritt. The latter was on 16 when play was suspended.
DeLaet is tied for third at 11-under, just two shots ahead of Barrett Jarosch of Edmonton, who shot a four-under 68 on Friday and is tied for ninth at nine-under for the tournament.
The weather conditions also took their toll on LPGA Tour Q-school up the road at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, where Montreal’s Lisa Meldrum was tied for sixth after staying even through four before play was suspended in the third round there.
