New GNN Series Reveals Your Favourite Escapes

November 24, 2009 by

Surprisingly, it didn’t take RCGA national men’s coach Henry Brunton long to reply when asked where his favourite winter golf getaway was located.

Brunton is first off the tee in GNN’s new blog series that features people within the Canadian golf industry discussing their favourite places to escape to once the snow flies. To find out Brunton’s decisive answer, check out his blog in the travel section today.

Brunton’s prompt reply is surprising in the sense that I’m a waffler when it comes to such a question. Each of my own experiences around the world have offered something unique, which makes it difficult to choose just one.

I must admit, however, that I truly do enjoy Arizona, which I visit on a regular basis. It’s easy to get to and its topography offers something completely different than what I’m used to in Canada, whether it’s in the Valley of the Sun in Phoenix/Scottsdale, down in Tucson or in the spectacular scenery of Sedona.

After so many years on the road, however, I have a vault of memories from not only Arizona, but places around the world, which makes picking a No. 1 next to impossible.

The people writing these blogs in the GNN travel section won’t have the luxury of waffling. Like Brunton, they will need to be decisive and talk about the reasons for their respective top picks, even though they will be allowed to mention some other favourites.

So, take a trip yourself to the GNN travel section to read Brunton’s blog. Doug Hastie of Highland Pacific is next off the tee and his blog will appear later this week.

We’re not leaving readers out of the mix. We’d like to hear your thoughts on this subject as well, so check out the General Discussion section of the GNN Forum, where the question about your favourite winter golf destination is posted.

Don’t hold out and keep it a secret. We can all use a good tip about where to enjoy a memorable golf getaway this winter.
