Callaway’s Keeping Its i On The Ball
November 10, 2009 by GNN
Callaway got a performance bonus last weekend when the Tour i series of golf balls finished one-two-three courtesy of Phil Mickelson, Ernie Els and Ryan Moore, respectively, at the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions in China.
The latest members of the Tour i family are the Tour i (s) and Tour (z).
The Tour i (s) is designed to deliver control and soft feel around the greens with new groove rules instituted by the United States Golf Association to reduce spin off wedges and short irons.
A Hyper-Urethane cover is in place to improve spin off wedges and shorter clubs, while a Second Generation Dual Core construction offers lower compression for better feel.
The refined HEX Aerodynamics with six Sub-HEX geometries are designed to increase distance by reducing drag, allowing the ball to cut through the wind with a strong, more penetrating flight.
The refined HEX Aerodynamics pattern is also a feature of the Tour i (z) ball, which is designed for more distance, even in tough conditions.
It features a more resilient 2nd Generation Dual Core construction to increase ball speed, while a soft, urethane cover uses a proprietary blend to offer softness, durability and spin around the greens.
