“At facilities where we held ball fitting clinics, sales of Bridgestone balls increased from 30 to 50 per cent,” said Tournament Sports’ director of sales Gary Pollock. “These results reinforced our decision to expand ball fitting in Canada to three teams in 2010.”

In 2009, Bridgestone says over 30,000 players across North America participated in the clinics, with 78 per cent of players tested gaining an average of 12.5 yards.

Technicians use a Science Eye launch monitor to recommend a proper fitting ball based on a person’s back spin, ball speed and launch angle.

“In less than three years of doing these ball fittings, we’ve learned a ton about what golfers are looking for in golf ball performance,” said Dan Murphy, senior director of marketing for Bridgestone Golf.

“Furthermore, we feel that we’ve changed golfers’ minds about why they should purchase a certain type of golf ball, encouraging decisions based on logic and performance, rather than what is just most popular.
